VO activity in the Netherlands

The VO work in the Netherlands is comprised of:

• University of Groningen:
  • Has historically been involved with the VO and long-lasting experience using VO standards to share data.
  • Historical involvement in the SAMP standard.
  • Using VODML for the data model of the Euclid mission.

• ASTRON:
  • Data sets from our telescopes also cover data from the sun and timing data, which are VO standards under current development.

• ASTRON, together with the University of Amsterdam:
  • Using VOEvents to transmit transient detections by our telescopes
  • Also consume VOEvents for follow-up observations
  • Planning to make the event database VO complient

• ASTRON, together with Jive:
  • Strongly involved in the Radio Astronomy Interest Group which is working on VO standards for radio astronomy data

• We have links with Leiden University and the Radboud University (Nijmegen) and , as well as with SRON who have interest in being involved in the VO, at the user level. We organise regular meetings to discuss how the VO is evolving and how to share the work we do on a national level.
